TrueOwn Privacy Policy
Effective April 18, 2026 · Last updated June 21, 2026
1. Who We Are
TrueOwn, Inc. ("TrueOwn," "we," "us," "our") is a Delaware corporation operating a mortgage-monitoring technology platform that helps homeowners find and request savings on their existing mortgages. Our principal address is [Street address], West Palm Beach, FL [zip].
This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your information.
If you have questions about this policy, contact us at info+privacy@trueown.ai.
2. Information We Collect
We collect three categories of information.
Information you give us directly. Your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, property address, and any documents you upload (such as mortgage statements or closing disclosures).
Information from your mortgage account. When you connect your mortgage through Plaid, we receive your loan balance, monthly payment, interest rate, escrow balance (the funds held to pay your property taxes and homeowners insurance), payment history, year-to-date interest paid, any prepayment-penalty flag your servicer reports, and the name of your mortgage servicer. Plaid provides this information to us under your authorization. We do not receive your bank login credentials — those stay with Plaid.
Information from public records and third-party data providers. We use ATTOM, Rentcast, county property records, and similar sources to look up your home's estimated value, property tax history, ownership records, and mortgage details associated with your address.
Information we collect automatically. When you use our website or app, we collect device information, IP address, browser type, pages visited, and similar usage data through cookies and standard analytics tools.
Session recordings. On our website and during the mortgage-scan flow in our app, we use PostHog (see Section 4) to record how you interact with the page — what you click, scroll, and where you navigate — so we can find and fix confusing experiences. Form fields you type into are masked before the recording leaves your device, and we do not record your account dashboard or the step where you connect your bank or mortgage. You can ask us to stop analytics and session recording for you at any time (see Section 5).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Determine whether you may qualify to cancel PMI — the private mortgage insurance fee added to many mortgages — or find other mortgage savings.
- Generate cancellation letters, request letters, and other documents based on your information, for you to review and send yourself.
- Monitor your mortgage account for changes that may affect your savings opportunities.
- Send you alerts, updates, and account communications.
- Process payments if you choose a paid plan (TrueOwn is free during launch).
- Improve our services, detect fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
We use automated calculations — such as modeling how your loan balance changes over time (amortization) and estimating your home's current value — to estimate whether you may qualify for certain mortgage savings (for example, PMI cancellation or a property-tax appeal). These are estimates, not final determinations: your loan servicer, the relevant agency, or your county taxing authority makes any actual decision, and you choose whether to act on what we surface. Depending on your state, you may have rights to access, opt out of, or request human review of this kind of automated processing — contact us at the address below to exercise your state-specific rights.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
We share your information only as follows:
With your loan officer (if applicable). If you were referred to TrueOwn by a loan officer, we share milestone notifications with them — for example, a notice that you may be eligible to cancel PMI — so they can stay in touch with you. We do not share your account balances, payment amounts, loan details, or any other sensitive financial information with loan officers.
With service providers. We share information with companies that help us operate the service: Plaid (mortgage account connectivity), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (email delivery), Cloudflare (hosting and infrastructure), Supabase (data storage), and PostHog (product analytics and session replay). These providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
With lender partners (only with your separate consent). If you choose to receive refinance or HELOC referrals, we may share relevant information with vetted lender partners. We will always ask for your separate, explicit permission before doing this. You can decline referrals without losing access to TrueOwn's other services.
For legal reasons. We may disclose information when required by law, in response to valid legal process, to protect the rights and safety of TrueOwn or others, or in connection with a corporate transaction such as a merger or acquisition.
5. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Delete your account and associated data.
- Disconnect your mortgage account at any time.
- Opt out of marketing communications.
- Opt out of analytics and session recording.
- Opt out of having your information shared with lender partners.
To exercise any of these rights, email info+privacy@trueown.ai or use the controls in your account settings. We respond to requests within 30 days.
Residents of California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Florida, and other states with consumer privacy laws have additional rights, including the right to request a portable copy of your data and the right to opt out of profiling. Contact us for state-specific rights.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and at rest, multi-factor authentication for administrative access, regular security audits, and strict access controls. Your mortgage account is connected through Plaid — the same service used by major banking apps — with read-only access encrypted in transit and at rest. We cannot move money or change your account.
No system is completely secure. We will notify you and applicable regulators if we discover a breach affecting your personal information, in accordance with applicable law.
7. Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward to comply with legal, accounting, and recordkeeping requirements. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except where retention is required by law (for example, tax records and consent logs).
8. Children's Privacy
TrueOwn is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Federal Privacy Law (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act)
Because we collect nonpublic personal financial information about you — financial information that is not publicly available, such as your loan balance and payment history — we are subject to the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA). This section, together with Section 4, is our full GLBA privacy notice.
In short: we collect your mortgage and property data to operate TrueOwn; we do not sell it; and we share it only with the service providers and partners described in Section 4, and only to the extent needed to run the service. You can opt out of having your information shared with lender partners, and exercise your other choices, under Section 5 or by contacting us at info+privacy@trueown.ai.
10. International Users
TrueOwn services are intended for residents of the United States. If you access TrueOwn from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top will always reflect the most recent version.
